Database as a Service (DBaaS)
Database-as-a-Service allows users to configure, manage, and scale databases using a common set of abstractions according to a unified model, without having to know or worry about the exact implementations for the specific database.
Through the service management console, the following functions are made available to the customer in particular: creation (or deletion) of a database; modification of the main infrastructural characteristics of the DB instance and scaling where not automatic; configuration of some database parameters; activation of additional features, such as data replication on passive instances (where applicable); activation of data backup or export functions (where applicable).
